Ava Easdon signs first professional contract

Glasgow City are delighted to announce Ava Easdon has signed a professional contract with the club.

Easdon puts pen to paper a three year deal with the club, having signed on the day she left school.

The 17 year old has spent this season on loan at our Petershill Park neighbours Partick Thistle and becoming a fan favourite while also featuring in their first ever Sky Sports Cup Final in March.

Commenting on her professional contract, Easdon said:

"I'm delighted. I'm happy to push forward even more with the club and excited for the next couple of years. Signing this deal at Glasgow City shows you can come from the Academy and progress with all the help the coaches and the club give you - from the under 18s all the way to the first team.

"All of the players are amazing and there is a great atmosphere at Glasgow City. Erin (Clachers) and Lee (Gibson) have been great with me in training and consistently keeping me right. Their help has been amazing. I wouldn't be here signing a professional contract without their help. I can't thank them enough.

"I want to push forward with Glasgow City. Keeping playing with the best and against the best and bringing what I have learnt this season to Glasgow City."

Head of goalkeeping Jamie Ewings said:

"Reflecting on this past season, Ava's journey has been one of growth and learning. As a coaching staff, we've worked closely with Ava to support, guide & educate her on the requirements needed to reach the next level in her personal footballing development. Lee and Erin have also shown incredible support & inspiration throughout the season for Ava which has helped me in her development personally. With the addition of Ava on a more permanent status to the group we feel as a club we are in an extremely strong position in the goalkeeping department with these three pushing each other every time they come onto the training pitch on a daily basis going into the new season. Personally, I can only see this having a positive impact on the club.

“Ava’s loan spell at Partick Thistle has gained widespread praise for her standout performances, and it has been rightfully earned. It has bolstered a newfound confidence in Ava. She has not only excelled at club level in her debut season, but has also managed to secure numerous international caps at u19s age group which has also aided in her development & tactical understanding of the game. I would like to personally extend a heartfelt thank you to Brian Graham and his staff for their invaluable support in Ava's development this season. As we look forward to the upcoming season, we remain hopeful that Ava will build upon the remarkable form she has showed over the past ten months.

“Looking ahead, I’m extremely excited to continue working with Ava on the pitch in the coming seasons. It’s a testament to her character & the type of person that she is that it’s sometimes easy to forget how young she actually is & how she’s been dealing with all of this in her first season whilst still at school finishing off her education. With Ava now fully focused on her football from the summer, we aim for her to hit even greater heights going into next season. It’s a testament to the club's investment in the long term player development plans we have for our young players. We have secured the long term future of a young talented Scottish goalkeeper with huge potential from our own academy who like Lee & Erin will hopefully reach the same levels.”
