Glasgow City are delighted to announce the signing of Scotland international Rachel McLauchlan from Yeovil Town.
Despite turning only 22 years of age last weekend, McLauchlan already has a strong SWPL pedigree after a number of successful years in the top flight with Aberdeen and Hibernian, before moving down south at the end of last season to join Yeovil Town in the FA Women’s Super League.
Comfortable in both midfield and defence, McLauchlan has been a long term target of Glasgow City Head Coach Scott Booth and he was thrilled to finally get her on board.
He said, "I'm absolutely delighted to say that Rachel has joined Glasgow City FC. She is a player I have tried to bring to the club on several occasions. We are both pleased to finally be able to work together and her signing underlines the ambition of the club. We have a tough second half of the season coming up and Rachel's inclusion puts us in a stronger position."
Commenting on her move back up north and to the Scottish Champions, McLauchlan said, “I’m delighted to be part of such a successful club. The team is full of great players with bags of experience and I'm really excited for the second half of the season to commence.”
McLauchlan, who has 7 international caps to date will be looking to find her way into Shelley Kerr’s Scotland plans after missing out on selection for the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Her first chance to impress will be in City’s opening league game after the break when she and her new teammates take on her former side Hibernian at Petershill Park on Sunday 4th August.
Tickets for that big game, which sees City as League leaders take on Hibs who are currently in second place, can be obtained on match day at the gate, priced £5 Adult, £2 U16s. Kick off is 2.10pm.
If you enjoyed the World Cup, make sure you head to the match. It is the only place in Scotland to see the stars from the Scottish squad.
