The Glasgow City Foundation have teamed up with the Glasgow South East Foodbank to help donate to families in need in the run up to Christmas.
On Friday evening, our academy will train for the final time in 2020 and we are encouraging all of our academy players to bring anything they can to our GHA training centre. Our friends, GHA Rugby Club, have also been part of the initiative.
The Glasgow SE foodbank is an amazing cause and will provide huge help to families that need it especially at this time of year. Some of the Items the organisation are in desperate need of include:
Crisps – selection packs
Chocolate
Nibbles
Tinned Meats
Mince Pies (dated after 25/12)
Diluting juice
Bottles of water
Glasgow City Development Officer Jamie Beattie: “I’m delighted our academy is going to make donations to the Glasgow SE foodbank just in time for Christmas. Everyone at Glasgow City FC wants to pull together to ensure families have the support and help they need especially at this time of year. It makes me very proud to see all the donations and we know it’s going to help so many people. Thank you to all our parents, players and coaches for making these donations.”
The Glasgow City Foundation has over 150 academy players, so we look forward to making a huge contribution if we can and where possible If each player can bring along something it would really make such a difference.
Glasgow City Development U19s player Sophie McKay added: “This time of year is difficult for many families but this year is particularly important that we help and provide support to our local communities through the food bank. The donations we make as a club will benefit so many families by aiding them in the Christmas season. Without the food bank many would struggle to have a Christmas at all so it amazing that our club can come together as one to support these local families.”
The Glasgow SE Food bank are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
