A professional performance from Glasgow City ensured a 2-0 over Hearts Women at the Oriam this afternoon.
First half strikes from Aoife Colvill (12) and Hayley Lauder (44) secured the win for Grant Scott’s side on a blustery afternoon in Edinburgh.
There was just one change for the away side, as interim head coach Scott made just the one change from last week’s 9-0 win over Spartans, bringing in Lauren Davidson, as Priscilla Chinchilla started on the bench.
It would be City who dominated the early stages and there was no surprise when Colvill latched onto a Tyler Dodds cross, Hearts ‘keeper Charlotte Parker-Smith got a hand to the original strike, but could do nothing about the rebound as Colvill tapped home to give City an early lead.
The duo almost doubled the lead shortly after wards when great work from Dodds played in the the number 19, but her close range volley went agonisingly wide of the post.
Good work from Davidson and Lauder almost presented an opportunity just after the half hour mark, but Parker-Smith was equal to it again.
City would continue to dominate, and doubled their lead just before break when Lauder expertly finished from Davidson’s left wing cross.
And it would be Lauder in the thick of the action again immediately after the break, smashing a half volley inches wide of the post.
Substitute Fulutudilu almost notched the third of the afternoon when she went close at the back post, but she could only hit the side netting.
Jo Love then went close 15 minutes from time when the skipper connected with venom to a Chincilla pass, though Parker-Smith again managed to get a finger to it.
Despite their dominance, City were unable to add to their tally, but the first half strikes would ensure all three points would return home to Glasgow.
