It was honours even at Petershill as Glasgow City were held by Rangers in the Glasgow derby.

Niamh Farrelly was on target in the second half after Chantelle Swaby had given the away side the lead.

In an evenly contested first half, Rangers started better and could have been ahead when Chelsea Cornet was played through one-on-one with Lee Alexander, but the City keeper tipped her effort onto the post.

The two sides cancelled each other out which meant chances were at a premium.

Jenna Clark headed wide from a corner before both Hayley Lauder and Priscilla Chinchilla had freekicks saved by Jenna Fife.

City captain Jo Love was forced off with an injury and was replaced by Maddie Fulton.

Shortly before the break, Alexander was forced into action again as she held onto Jane Ross’s effort.

Both teams upped their game in the second half and City were the first to see a sight of goal when Lauder cut in from the right but her effort was well held by Fife.

Moments later though, the deadlock was broken when Lizzie Arnot’s corner found Swaby who headed past Alexander to put the away side ahead.

The away side were ahead for just seven minutes though as Megan Foley’s cross from the right was converted from seven yards by Farrelly.

Rangers thought they were back ahead when Brogan Hay’s cross found Cornet at the far post but the offside flag was up.

Both sides did have chances to win it. First, Lauren Davidson had her effort saved by Fife before Fulton took a dig from long range which went narrowly wide.

In the dying seconds, the City defence then stood firm to block a strike from Demi Vance before Alexander palmed away a shot from Arnot to ensure the points were shared.
