Glasgow City booked their place in next month’s SWPL Cup Final with three second half goals in Eileen Gleeson’s first game in charge.

A double from Priscila Chinchilla sandwiched a Hayley Lauder goal to secure the victory over Spartans.

City started well and had an opening within the opening minute but Aoife Colvill couldn’t get enough on her shot after Lauren Davidson had done well on the right hand side.

Rachel Harrison in the Spartans goal was busy early on as she was forced into two saves to deny Davidson.

Spartans grew into the game as the first half continued on with Tegan Reynolds testing Lee Alexander with a header and a shot.

City started the second half well and, on the hour, they got the breakthrough. A driving run in the middle of the park from Mairead Fulton moved City up the pitch before she slid the ball into the path of Chinchilla who found the bottom corner to break the deadlock.

One immediately became two as Julia Molin and Tyler Dodds linked up with the full back’s cross finding a sliding Lauder at the front post to get enough of a touch onto the ball to make sure it found the far side of the net.

City looked to add to their total as Chinchilla had a shot blocked while Lauder’s header came back off the post.

Spartans were reduced to ten with five minutes to go when Louise Mason was shown a second yellow and the subsequent red card and City took advantage in stoppage time when a cross from the right from Dodds was finished off acrobatically by Chinchilla for her second of the game.

The final of the SWPL Cup will take place at Firhill Stadium on Sunday 5th of December but before that, City make the trip to Alliance Park to face Motherwell in the SWPL.
