A perfect debut hat trick from Ode Fulutudilu helped Glasgow City to a magnificent 7-0 win against Forfar Farmington at Station Park.
Four goals in 14 minutes at the start of the second half saw the away side pull clear after a resilient first 45 minutes from Forfar.
Sharon Wocjik’s 43rd minute opener was followed up by goals from Fulutudilu, Nicole Robertson, Julia Molin and Jo Love as City recorded back-to-back wins in their first games of 2021.
City looked to dominate from the off and within four minutes, Maddie Fulton had hit the crossbar with an effort from outside the box.
That same crossbar would come to Forfar’s rescue no less than four times in a first half which saw Erin Clachers, at the other end, with just one London Pollard shot to deal with which she saved well.
Priscila Chinchilla, Fulutudilu and Robertson caused the home side a number of problems in the opening 45 minutes with each either forcing Lauren Perry to make the save, hitting the woodwork or shooting just wide.
However, Forfar were resolute and made things difficult for City. Hayley Lauder, Molin, Arna Sif Ásgrimsdóttir and Zaneta Wyne all had chances but none could find a way past Perry.
As the half time whistle drew closer, Forfar’s resistance was finally broken when a determined Fulutudilu reached the byline and cut the ball back for Lauder. The chance almost looked gone when her first touch wasn’t conducive for the shot but she was able to set up Wojcik to slam home from the penalty spot.
City started the second half as they ended the first – with a goal. A looping cross from Robertson on 47 minutes found Fulutudilu six yards out and she headed the ball over Perry and into the net.
Moments later and the debutant had her second when Fulton’s corner found her free at the far post to turn the ball home.
Within 10 minutes of the restart, the game was beyond Forfar as a well worked corner routine saw Ásgrimsdóttir, at the far post, nod the ball back across goal for Robertson to turn it into an empty net.
Five minutes later and fancy footwork from Chinchilla inside the Forfar box saw her wriggle free and set up Molin for her first City goal.
A poor clearance from Perry saw a superb first-time finish from half time substitute Love who curled the ball into the back of an empty net from 25 yards out for 6-0.
With seven minutes to go, Fulutudilu completed the scoring and her hat trick when she cut in from the right and fired the ball beyond Perry.
Next up for City is their first home game of 2021 as Motherwell travel to Broadwood Stadium.
