Glasgow City bounced back from Sunday’s draw against Hibernian to get all three points at the Falkirk Stadium against Hearts.

Hayley Lauder opened the scoring after eight minutes before Hearts equalised at the start of the second half through Mariel Kaney. City replied through a Janine Van Wyk wonder strike along with goals from Niamh Farrelly and Aoife Colvill to secure all three points.

Chinchilla forced the first save of the evening as she danced away from the Hearts defender down the left wing but her shot was parried away by Charlotte Parker-Smith.

The opener wouldn’t take long to come however. Julia Molin got to the byline and delivered a terrific cross for the sliding Lauder to score.

City almost made it two when Ode Fulutudilu’s shot hit the left hand post and bounced across the line but it was Murron Cunningham in the maroon of Hearts who got to the loose ball first to clear it away.

City create more opportunities with the fingertips of Parker-Smith denying Jenna Clark’s header while Jo Love and Van Wyk both had efforts from distance.

Hearts got themselves back level a couple of minutes after half time when Paige McAllister’s header was flicked on by Kaney and past the diving Lee Alexander.

City tried to respond through Love after some good play from Farrelly but Parker-Smith denied her.

The home side would get back in front just before the hour with a stunning goal. Van Wyk received the ball about 25 yards from goal and arrowed a strike with her left foot into the top corner to restore City’s lead.

The lead was doubled a few minutes later when an in-swinging corner caused a goalmouth scramble with Farrelly eventually being the player to stab the ball past Parker-Smith and into the back of the net.

Hearts tried to counter attack when the opportunity arose through Katey Turner but City stood firm and got a fourth when Colvill stabbed the ball home from close range after Van Wyk’s effort hit the crossbar and Lauren Davidson’s follow up header was saved with the ball eventually making its way to Colvill.

City are next in action on Sunday in the capital as we travel to Spartans.
