Glasgow City came from behind for the second game in a row to take all three points against Partick Thistle, running out 3-1 winners at a rainy Petershill on Thursday evening.
London Pollard (10) had given the away side an early lead, but a Cailin Michie double (32, 65) coupled with a late Prischilla Chinchilla penalty (85) would ensure the points remained with City.
Interim Head Coach Grant Scott made numerous changes from Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Hamiton, introducing the likes of Tyler Dodds, Lee Alexander and Agata Filipa to the starting XI.
Newly promoted Thistle started the brighter of two, with on loan Celtic striker Pollard sneaking beyond the City backline to hit the side netting, though Clare Shine almost had City in the lead after just four minutes later when she rounded the goalkeeper, but the away side scrambled clear.
Polland would give Thistle a shock lead shortly after, however, when she latched on a loose ball to fire beyond Alexander on the 10 minute mark.
City would respond and pressed following opener, with Lauren Davidson creating havoc on the left.
Good work from Davidson almost allowed Dodds to level just before the 25 minute mark, but her close range shot was deflected wide, before Shine tried a clever free kick that tested Lauren McGregor in the Thistle net.
The breakthrough would eventually come through the unlikely source of full back Michie when her low range drive trickled through bodies to find its way into the bottom corner.
The second half started in similar vein, with Scott’s side doing all the pressing, and they’d get their reward on 65 when, once again, Michie popped up to finish off a delightful cross from Dodds to give her side the lead.
City would continue to search for a clincher, and substitute Jo Love when almost put the game to bed on 70 minutes, but her rasping drive was held well by the ‘keeper.
The third would eventually come for City just five minutes from time, when Chincilla was taken down in the area before picking herself up to sent the goalkeeper the wrong from 12-yards.
Glasgow City return to Petershill for their second home game of the week as they host Spartans on Sunday (1pm kick off).
