Glasgow City strolled into the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup with a comprehensive 6-0 win over Hamilton Academical at Petershill Park.

A brace from Kerry Beattie was complimented by goals from Priscila Chinchilla, Jenna Clark, Lauren Davidson and Tyler Dodds as Accies were brushed aside.

City started positively and in the third minute Mairead Fulton’s cross found Beattie but her header went narrowly wide.

Seven minutes later, Dodds’ cross again found Beattie. Her first effort was blocked and her second was saved by Chloe Nicolson.

A mix up at the back almost saw Accies break the deadlock but Erin Clachers was equal to Lindsey Blues effort.

At the other end, Chinchilla set up Clare Shine on the edge of the box. Her initial shot was blocked before the ball fell to her again but this time Nicolson made the save.

On 18 minutes, City broke the deadlock when Megan Foley played through Abbi Grant. She took a touch before squaring it for Chinchilla who slotted home into the empty net.

Five minutes later, they doubled their lead on the counter when Chinchilla played Beattie through on the left. She drove forward before cutting inside and coolly rolling the ball past Nicolson into the far corner.

Chinchilla and Shine both opportunities to extend the lead before the break but one couldn’t find the target while the other’s was saved.

Fulton’s corner on 55 minutes found Clark unmarked and her header left Nicolson with no chance as she put City 3-0 up.

Accies then had two chances in two minutes. First Josephine Giard’s shot was saved before they were awarded penalty when Blues went down in the box after a free-kick. Up stepped Danielle Pagliarulo but her effort rebounded off the post before being cleared to safety.

With 15 minutes to go, City started to flex their muscle. Sub Vital Kats played the ball Crossfield for Davidson but her effort from the edge of the box was saved.

A minute later Davidson was in again but her shot from a tight angle was tipped onto the post.

Beattie then had a curling effort which went just over.

On 79 minutes, Kats was brought down on the edge of the box but Davidson was there to hit a superb effort which Nicolson couldn’t keep out.

Four minutes later it was five as Kats sent Beattie clean through on the counter and she fire the ball beyond Nicolson.

Dodds then rounded off the scoring with three minutes left with a phenomenal effort into the top left-hand corner from the right hand edge of the box.
