Three second half goals secured Glasgow City victory in our final home game of the season against Aberdeen.
A Vital Kats header was cancelled out before half time by Aberdeen defender Donna Paterson, but a double from substitute Abbi Grant and a drilled finish from Lauren Davidson confirmed City all three points.
Eileen Gleeson made four changes from the side that played Rangers on Sunday with Erin Clachers, Vital Kats, Niamh Farrelly and Tyler Dodds coming in to the side replacing Lee Alexander, Hayley Lauder, Clare Shine and Peyton Perea.
The sun shone on Petershill Park for City’s final home game of the season but it was Aberdeen who had the first shot on goal when Bayley Hutchison’s effort from the edge of the box was blocked by Claire Walsh.
City had an effort of their own a minute later but Jenna Clark’s header found the side netting.
The home side started to create more chances with Lauren Davidson’s shot going over the crossbar and Niamh Farrelly having a volley blocked on the line.
City opened the scoring just after the quarter hour mark when Kats connected to Mairead Fulton’s corner to head the ball into the back of the net.
Neither side were able to threaten the opposing goalkeeper immediately after the goal but a long range strike from Eilidh Shore forced Clachers to make a save as Aberdeen looked for a leveller before the break.
The visitors managed to find that equaliser shortly before half time when Bailley Collins’ free kick found Paterson in the box and the defender volleyed the ball past Clachers.
City made a change at half time with Grant replacing Kats and she made an immediate impact. Chinchilla’s shot from the edge of the box hit the crossbar and Grant was the first to react to tap the loose ball into the back of the net.
Chinchilla hit the crossbar again moments later before Davidson added a third for City after some neat play by the hosts created an opportunity for the winger to drill the ball low into the bottom corner for her 22nd goal of the season.
Aberdeen weren’t giving up and forced Clachers into action shortly after the third goal but any hope the visitors had of making a comeback were dashed when Grant scored her second of the evening.
Farrelly made a driving run from midfield before playing the ball into the path of Grant who curled the ball with her right foot into the bottom corner.
The remaining minutes saw a Glasgow City debut for Kayleigh Mitchell when she replaced Claire Walsh as City secured victory in the final game at Petershill Park this season.
City are next in action away to Hibernian in the final SWPL game of the season before the Biffa Scottish Women’s Cup Final against Celtic on Sunday 29th of May.
