Aberdeen 0-5 Glasgow City - SWPL Match Summary

Glasgow City continued their winning run with a professional performance against Aberdeen as a double from Emily Whelan set Leanne Ross and her side on their way to a 5-0 victory at the Balmoral Stadium.

There were two changes from the side that had secured a Sky Sports Cup Quarter Final spot last weekend with Ava Easdon and Chloe Warrington coming into the starting line up for Lee Gibson and Amy Muir, while Katie Lockwood made her return to the bench after injury.

In a game the visitors would dominate City would open the scoring with 17 minutes on the clock as Whelan finished off a superb piece of patient front to back attacking play that involved nearly every player.

That dominance would continue and a second would come in the 33rd minute as the always busy Aleigh Gambone broke into the box to drive home her second goal of the season and it was three not long after as Whelan's movement allowed the Irish international to add a third as the game headed towards half time.

Claire Walsh and Mairead Fulton would enter the game as they continued to build minutes after injury but it was Chloe Warrington who would be next on the scoresheet, driving home from the edge of the area to score her first goal for the club.

It would be another first with eleven minutes left to play as Mairead Fulton burst into the box, smashing a driven effort past the outstretched arm of Megan Sidey to score her first of the season; the Dons keeper having already made a number of good saves.

City continued to press for a sixth with substitute Lockwood coming closest but the scoring would finish at five as momentum continues heading into next week's match against Rangers at Ibrox.
