Academy Prospects Ready to Light Up SWPL This Season

With the new Scottish Women's Premier League campaign underway, it's not just the first team who returned to domestic competition as a number of our NextGen prospects tested themselves with first-team experience at sides across the Scottish game.

Head of Player Development Michael Gaughan is excited to see those on loan grab their opportunity of first-team experience.

''As a club we are passionate about developing the individual, and it's exciting to see each player taking the opportunity to go out and test themselves in new environments," he said.

These moves not only give them exposure to competitive first-team football but also allows for those from the younger NextGen age groups to step up to a new level, giving each group new challenges for the season ahead.''

Below is a round up of our young players who are spending the campaign on loan...

Cara Gray (Kilmarnock)

It's a return to SWPL2 Kilmarnock for 17-year-old forward Cara following an impressive season in Ayrshire last term as Killie finished second in SWPL2. She scored 21 goals and was also awarded the SWPL 2 Player of the Month for May after scoring five goals in three games, including a hat-trick against Livingston.

Cara was on the scoresheet as Kilmarnock began their campaign with a 6-1 win over St. Johnstone.

Mia Scott (Kilmarnock)

Joining Cara in making a return to Kilmarnock, is central defender Mia Scott. 18-year-old central defender Mia made 23 appearances last term, and scored on two occasions.

Like Cara, Mia is a Scotland youth international and will marry her spell on loan with training involvement inside our full-time environment at Glasgow City.

Dara Ositelu (Queen's Park)

Sixteen-year-old Dara has already had a taste of first-team experience this season, having been part of the matchday squad for pre-season friendlies against Hamilton Academical and Partick Thistle.

A Scotland U16 international, Dara will get her first taste of competitive action on loan at the Spiders as they look to return to the top flight at the first time of asking.

Dara was a second half substitute as the Spiders began their campaign away to Dundee United.

Zoe Mooney (Stirling University)

Zoe made her first-team debut as a substitute during a behind closed doors friendly against Partick Thistle earlier this month. The defender started as the Greens returned to SWPL2 action against Spartans.

Aoibhe Toner (Stirling University)

Another player with youth international experience, Aoibhe also joins, a Stirling University side returning to SWPL2 following a playoff success over Rossvale at the end of last term.

Charlotte Gates (Rossvale)

The goalkeeper was 2024/25 U17s NextGen Player of the Year, and Charlotte will now continue her development at nearby SWF Championship side Rossvale gaining experience within the Scottish women's football pyramid set up.

We wish all players the very best during their loan spells. Go smash it, girls!
