Glasgow City 0
Brann 4
By Stephen Bark
Glasgow City lost out to Brann in the first leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League second round tie at Petershill Park.
City made five changes from the side which defeated Spartans the previous weekend with Erin Clachers, Abbie Larkin, Aleigh Gambone, Aiofe Colvill and Megan Foley replaced by Lee Gibson, Brenna Lovera, Linda Motlhalo, Kenzie Weir and Anna Oscarson.
Brann were ahead after five minutes when Rakel Engesvik rounded Gibson and slotted the ball into the goal.
It was 2-0 after 13 minutes when a corner was cleared off the line before Justine Kielland hit an unstoppable shot from just outside the box.
Engesvik made it three shortly before the break when she showed expert control in the box before firing home.
City did have their chances. Lovera was denied at the near post before half time and, in the second half, Muir’s cross was deflected goalwards with Lovera lurking but Aurora Mikalsen reacted well and held on.
Both Charlotte Wardlaw and Weir had opportunities from corners but the Brann defence stood firm.
With full time approaching, Marit Lund produced another top drawer finish to round off the scoring.
