Glasgow City secured three points on our first ever trip to Links Park.

Tammy Harkin gave Montrose the lead but goals from Kenzie Weir, a first Glasgow City goal for Carlee Giammona, a double from Fiona Brown and a late strike from Mairead Fulton secured victory.

City started well with Carlee Giammona having a couple of early chances while Lisa Forrest was denied by a last ditch block after a long ball forward had found her.

Lauren Davidson was denied shortly before the quarter hour mark when her close range header from an Aleigh Gambone cross was saved by Lauren Perry.

Despite the early pressure from City, it was the home side that took the lead. A corner kick found the head of Tammy Harkin who headed in from close range.

15 minutes later City equalized. A corner routine between Emily Whelan and Forrest found Mairead Fulton on the edge of the box and her cross was met by Kenzie Weir who headed the ball past Perry.

City looked for a goal before the break but efforts from Giammona and Fulton failed to find the target.

Leanne Ross brought on Fiona Brown at half time and the substitute made an immediate impact. Down the left hand side, Brown twisted and turned before delivering a cross that was headed home by Giammona for her first goal for the club.

The visiting side wanted a third to create a cushion and a brilliant diving save from Perry denied Whelan after the striker turned on the edge of the box and shot before Weir was denied a second of the afternoon when her header was cleared off the line.

City’s third eventually came and it was worth the wait. Brown cut inside from the left wing and curled the ball into the top far corner.

Brown got her second and City’s fourth of the afternoon as she tapped home at the front post from an excellent cross from Kinga Kozak who herself went close to adding a fifth but her header was saved.

City got a fifth as the clock struck 90 when Fulton’s effort from the edge of the box flew into the top corner.

City are next in action next Sunday when we travel to K Park to face Motherwell.
