City ease past Hamilton to book place in Scottish Cup round five

A blistering start at Petershill ensured Glasgow City progressed to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup with a 4-0 win over Hamilton in Leanne Ross' first game in charge of the club.

Goals from Bea Prades Ines (7), Erin Greening (16), Hayley Lauder (36) and Kinga Kozak (64) made sure of City's passage into the next round.

The interim head coach handed starts to Prades Insa, Erin Clachers and Meikayla Moore for her first start in charge, while captain Jo Love was named amongst the substitutes.

And it was Prades Insa who helped City to a spectacular opener when she launched a fine 25-yard drive beyond Chloe Nicolson in the Hamilton net ahead some fantastic build up play on the left hand side.

Hayley Lauder would almost add an instant second when she controlled superbly in the area and smashed off the bar.

Shortly afterwards a driving run would from Lauren Davidson would see the home side go further ahead when her cross eventually found full back Greening who finished superb for her first City goal.

Greening then almost turned provider when her superb right wing cross was met by Emily Whelan in the area, though Nicolson pulled out a great save to deny the Irish forward.

Nicolson then pulled off another superb save to deny Kinga Kozak who looked set to tap home from a superb Lauder free-kick.

Nicolson would deny City again on the half hour mark when Davidson's superb run and shot was deflected over the bar.

City would seal the win after 36 minutes though when Lauder chipped an astonishing 20 yard drive into the top corner to put the home side three to the good.

Davidson would almost add a fourth shortly after the break when she was set free in the area but saw her shot go narrowly over the bar from 10 yards out.

Whelan would go close again on the hour mark when a superb ball from Kozak would sent her through on goal but - once again - Nicolson would pull off an excellent save to keep the score to three.

There was nothing she could do about City's fourth though when Kozak deservedly grabbed the goal her performance deserved after a great cross substitute Megan Foley.

The win ensures City will be in the cup for the fifth round of the cup, which takes place tomorrow.
