Glasgow City’s Sky Sports Cup run came to an end at the semi final as a Krystyna Freda double gave Hibernian victory at Petershill Park.
Mairead Fulton scored a goal late on to set up a grandstand finish but the visitors held on.
The visitors started brightly with Michaela McAlonie firing over from the edge of the penalty area.
City had chances themselves in the opening stages with Fulton hitting the crossbar while Kinga Kozak saw her volley gathered at the second attempt by Benedicte Haaland.
The opening goal of the game came midway through the first half and went in the way of Hibs.
A backpass from Jenna Clark was cut out by Freda who put the ball past Lee Gibson in the City goal to give the visitors the lead.
Freda was denied a second shortly before the interval when Gibson beat her to the loose ball.
Gibson was called into action early in the second half to deny Freda again before saving a strike from Shannon McGregor.
The home side threatened themselves with Priscila Chinchilla and Lauren Davidson connecting with crossed but unable to get their efforts on target. Clark’s header would find the side netting before Hibs would double their advantage.
A ball from the far side went across the face of goal and found Freda who sent the ball goalwards. Gibson clawed the ball away but after a few seconds, the referee pointed to the centre circle to signal a second Hibs goal.
City had to respond quickly and did as Fulton’s strike from the edge of the box flew past Haaland and into the back of the net.
Fulton’s strike gave City a lifeline but despite the best efforts from the players in orange, Hibernian hung on to secure the victory.
