Glasgow City collected a point on their travels after a goalless draw away at Hearts.

Following the international break and the postponement of the SWPL fixture against Montrose, City hadn’t played a league game for a few weeks but the visiting side had the first opportunity when Linda Molthalo’s effort from the edge of the box was saved by Charlotte Parker-Smith.

Hearts responded immediately with Georgia Timms forcing a save from Lee Gibson in a frantic opening few minutes. The home side had a very good chance to open the scoring when Katie Lockwood was played through but her effort went into the side netting.

Hayley Lauder had an effort that landed on the roof of the net as City failed to trouble Parker-Smith in the Hearts goal until just before the half time whistle when Brenna Lovera was denied from close range by the outstretched right leg of Parker-Smith.

Lauren Davidson came out at half time for City and helped create some opportunities for the visitors with Lovera putting a shot from close range wide while a Mairead Fulton effort was saved.

City had a number of corners throughout the second half but the home side defended well.

As the clock ticked towards 90, City had one last chance when Lovera turned in the penalty area and her cross found Emily Whelan but her shot was deflected and the ball found the grateful gloves of Parker-Smith as the sides shared the points.

City are next in action on Friday night in Airdrie when we face Celtic in the Quarter Finals of the Sky Sports Cup.
