Glasgow City made it two wins from two at the start of the Scottish Power Women’s Premier League season with a second successive 3-0 victory.

First half goals from Hayley Lauder and Amy Muir put City in the driving seat with a late Lauren Davidson penalty securing the points.

Leanne Ross made three changes from the side that beat Hibernian on the opening day with Claire Walsh, Emily Whelan and Lisa Forrest coming into the side.

Lauren Davidson had the first effort on goal with Megan Cunningham in the Partick Thistle goal being forced into a save. City had a lot of the ball but were unable to create a goal scoring opportunity until the 22nd minute.

Anna Oscarsson linked well with Davidson on the right wing before the full back cut the ball back for Lauder, who first time, placed the ball into the back of the net.

One became two shortly after the half hour mark when Muir’s cross flew over the head of Cunningham and into the back of the Partick Thistle net.

Lauder had a chance to make it three just before the break when she volleyed Davidson’s cross goalwards but a strong leg from Cunningham denied City a third.

City continued where they had left off in the first with the majority of possession with Kinga Kozak and Mairead Fulton both having efforts on goal.

Sophia Martin came off the bench at half time to replace Emily Whelan and she would play a part in City’s third goal. She controlled the ball well before being pushed in the back by Jenna Ferguson with the referee pointing to the penalty spot.

Davidson placed the ball on the spot and fired it high into the roof of the net and out of the reach of Cunningham. That would be Davidson’s last contribution as she would be replaced by Aleigh Gambone who would be unlucky not to get a first City goal as her goalbound shot was blocked by what looked like the arm of the Partick defender.

Cori Sullivan also went close to a first Glasgow City goal but her shot was blocked before the rebound went wide as City made it two wins from two to start the season.
