Claire Walsh agrees contract extension

Claire Walsh has signed a contract extension at Glasgow City to extend her stay into a third season.

Walsh joined the club in the summer of 2021 and has made 76 appearances in all competitions for City.

The centre back made her Glasgow City debut in a 9-0 SWPL Cup group stage victory over Glasgow Women and scored on her Scottish Women’s Premier League debut against Motherwell in 2021.

The Republic of Ireland international played just short of 3,000 minutes this season along with scoring five goals and keeping 19 clean sheets as she helped City bring the SWPL title back to Petershill Park

Commenting on extending her stay, Walsh said:

“I’ve absolutely loved my time with Glasgow City and I am delighted to be staying. I am so proud to be a part of such a great club!”

Head Coach Leanne Ross said:

“After being an almost ever present in the team during our title winning season, it is brilliant to have Claire extend her contract at the club. It is important to have good players, but equally as important to have good people in the dressing room and Claire certainly fits both of these categories.

“First and foremost she is a leader and a winner but also someone who is focused on learning and improving, attributes that will take her and the team far. I am really looking forward to continuing our work together.”
