Daniel Tobin joins Glasgow City as Head of Goalkeeping

We are delighted to welcome Daniel Tobin to Glasgow City as he joins the club as our new Head of Goalkeeping.

Tobin joins from Queen's Park where held the position of Head of Academy Goalkeeping. He previously worked as a coach at Rangers, firstly with their Academy and then the women's team, where he was part of the coaching staff that led the team to a Scottish Cup and League Cup double in 2023/24.

He previously held Academy coaching positions at Celtic and Hamilton Accies.

Before moving into coaching, Tobin enjoyed a playing career of his own, turning out for Airdrie United, Raith Rovers, and Stranraer.

Upon joining City, Tobin said: "It was a really attractive prospect to me because of the club's history and what they stand for in terms of pioneering the women's game from the get go.

"It was something I very much wanted to be a part of.

"I want to continue the work that Jamie (Ewings - former Head of Goalkeeping) had done here over the last two seasons. I know how valued that was, so I want to continue that and put my own spin on things and bring my qualities and style on the pitch.

"I'll support our goalkeepers and want to see them continue to develop and grow.

"I want our goalkeepers to contribute within the first third of the pitch and to keep clean sheets - it becomes very difficult to win games without clean sheets.

"I've won before at this level in the women's game and I'm really looking forward to working towards that and to try bring silverware back to this club."

Tobin has already been hard at work with our senior goalkeepers Lee Gibson, Erin Clachers and Ava Easdon during pre-season. To work with three ambitious international players is something he is embracing.

He added: "It's something I definitely looked at from the outside before joining - the quality the club have in the goalkeeping department. It's something that excited me and a challenge that I believe I'm more than capable of managing."
