Glasgow City bounced back from Sunday’s defeat with a Petershill Park derby victory.
A double from Emily Whelan along with strikes from Wilma Forsblom and Cori Sullivan secured the three points despite Carla Boyce’s early goal for Partick Thistle.
Leanne Ross made six changes from Sunday with Wilma Forsblom receiving her first ever start for the club and Claire Walsh returning for her first start since injury.
The visitors took an early lead when Carla Boyce lifted the ball over Lee Gibson from distance and the ball bounced into the back of the net.
Partick Thistle’s lead didn’t last long. A corner kick from Wilma Forsblom was met by the head of Emily Whelan and she diverted the ball past Megan Cunningham in the Partick goal.
Six minutes after falling behind, City were in front. The ball was played around the Thistle penalty area before Forsblom fired it into the top left corner.
After a frantic opening 12 minutes, the game started to settle down before City added a third. A break down the right found Whelan and she charged down on goal before calmly slotting the ball past Cunningham.
The hosts threatened as the first half ticked on with the returning Claire Walsh going close with a header before Jo Love, who came on as a second half substitute sent a powerful strike just the wrong side of the post.
Both Cunningham and Gibson were called into action in the closing stages before City found a fourth with the last kick of the game as Cori Sullivan fired the ball low into the net from inside the penalty area.
City are next in action on Sunday when we travel to Hibernian.
