Dominant Glasgow City see off Thistle with 8-1 win

Table topping Glasgow City enjoyed a dominant performance as they defeated Partick Thistle 8-1 in the Petershill derby this afternoon.

Goals from Claire Walsh (4), Priscila Chinchilla (9, 35), Linda Motlhalo (45), Kinga Kozak (45 pen), Lisa Forrest (64), Lauren Davidson (73) and Megan Foley (89) would secure a comfortable win for the home side - with Rachel Donaldson grabbing a late consolation for Thistle (80).

And it was the home side who would come out of the blocks quickest when Irish international Walsh blasted home Mairead Fulton's corner from close to give City an early lead.

City would double their lead five minutes later when a fantastic through ball from Kinga Kozak allowed Chinchilla to slide perfectly beyond Megan Cunningham in the Thistle goal.

Kozak would also add a third on the 15 mark when Amy Muir combined well with Chinchilla on the left hand side but her shot would deflect wide.

Cunningham had to be alert shortly after when some wonderful interplay between Linda Motlhalo and Kozak saw Forrest test her with a wicked low drive.

City would be cement the win 10 minutes from the break when Chinchilla would race onto another long range ping from Fulton and finish well beyond Cunningham.

Right on half time, January signing Motlhalo would tap home from close range after Forrest's deflected shot and a handball in the box would hand Kozak a chase to score a well deserved goal from the spot to hand City a 5-0 half time lead.

Twenty minutes after the restart youngster Forrest would get her first goal on her first start at Petershill when she finished with aplomb.

It would then be Davidson's turn to get in on the act when finished well after another Fulton assist set her free in the area.

There was still time for a late Thistle consolation though when a excellent long range drive from Donaldson gave the away side something to cheer.

However, when City won a late corner it was a towering header from Foley that would be the final act of the game.

The win keeps Ross' side at the top of the league ahead of our midweek clash with Hearts at the Oriam.
