Glasgow City are delighted to announce the signing of Birmingham City forward and Irish international Emily Whelan.
The 19-year-old moves to Petershill after appearing 16 times for Darren Carter’s side in the Women’s Super League (WSL) last season.
Whelan was a regular feature in the Irish under 17 and under 19 sides before making her senior international debut in 2018, where she has gone on to be capped a further five times.
Signed to WSL side Birmingham in 2021, she was previously with League of Ireland side Shelbourne, where she was named U-17 League Player of the Year in 2018.
On the move, Whelan said:
"I am delighted to have signed with Glasgow City FC. I’m excited to play alongside amazing players and work with incredible staff. I am really looking forward to this new adventure and I can’t wait to get started."

“Emily is a dynamic striker, always a threat with the ball and always active without the ball. Her signing adds to the exciting line-up of Glasgow City’s attacking summer signings of Desirée Monsiváis, Kinga Kozak and Dilan Bora, and hopefully adds to the list of fan favourites."
