City will take a 3-0 advantage to Ireland for the First Qualifying Round away leg after making history and defeating Athlone Town 3-0 at Petershill Park to secure a first-ever win in the Europa Cup.
Making history herself by becoming our first-ever goal scorer in the competition, Amy Anderson netted her maiden goal for City after 14 minutes to give us an early lead.
Goals in the second half from Linda Motlhalo, who netted her first goal this season and her first since returning for a second spell, and Lisa Forrest, extended our advantage in rainy conditions.
Match action from the Peasy
It was a fairly even start between both sides, but it was the visitors who registered the best opportunity inside the opening 15 minutes. Gibson made a superb fingertip save to deny Athlone's Kelly Brady from range.
But it would be City who took the lead on 14 minutes and it came from our No.14, Anderson. She was picked out with a pass across the face of goal by Sofia Määttä, and slotted it home to score our first-ever goal in the Europa Cup.
We went so close to 2-0 midway through the first half, but Linda Motlhalo was denied when Athlone goalkeeper Megan Plaschko pulled off a fine diving save to push her strike beyond the post.
In the second half, we were unlucky not to extend our lead when the Athlone goalkeeper firstly denied Abi Harrison's header from an Amy Muir cross, before she gathered Lana Golob's header from the resulting corner.
That second goal did soon arrive though and it was Motlhalo who extended our lead. Määttä bagged another assist, this time cutting the ball back to our No.20, who was unmarked and finished it a composed manner from the middle of the area.
Only minutes later it was 3-0 to City and it was a hat-trick of assists for our Finnish forward Määttä. She pulled the ball back from the byline to find Forrest, and she turned it home for her second goal in as many games.
The visitors looked to get back in the game and went close following a stramash in the box, allowing them to get a shot away, but it was deflected behind for a corner which came to nothing.
In the dying minutes, Athlone went close again to pulling a goal back but a light touch from goalkeeper Gibson ensured the ball went behind for a corner and the visitors couldn't take advantage of the set piece, as it finished 3-0.
