A 3-1 (agg 4-2) second-leg defeat to Sporting CP after extra time in Portugal saw our UEFA Women's Europa Cup campaign come to an end in the Round of 16, despite a valiant performance across 120 minutes.
Nicole Kozlova's opener late on in the first half was cancelled out by the hosts' leveller in the 73rd minute, and with it remaining level on 2-2 on aggregate after 90 minutes, the game went to extra time.
But with Sporting scoring twice in extra time, our European journey concluded despite a display which saw every single City player give their absolute everything over the two legs.

It was an unchanged line-up in Portugal, with Leanne Ross opting to start the same XI who did so in last week's 1-1 draw in the first leg at Petershill Park.
Within the opening minute, City's Lee Gibson had to make a fine fingertip save to push Florencia Bonsegundo's curling strike over the bar, before Telma Encarnação saw her effort on the rebound gathered by our goalkeeper.
Our best opportunities to attack over the first period would come from corners and a free-kick whipped in by Lisa Evans from 30 yards out, but they came to nothing.
That was until the opener in the 41st minute when Evans sent a free-kick into the box, it was guided on by Lana Golob and then met by the head of Kozlova, who headed it home at the back post to put us ahead in the tie.

In the second half, our best chance arrived just after the hour mark when Linda Motlhalo unleashed a strike from distance which dropped just over the bar.
Motlhalo would soon have another opportunity, this time a powerful drive, which was collected by Sporting goalkeeper Anna Wellmann.
Yet it would be Sporting who found the back of the net next, with Telma Encarnação finding the bottom corner to pull the tie level at 2-2.
After equalising, the hosts looked to get another but substitute Cláudia Neto missed the target, as did Ana Capeta, who had also not long come off the Sporting bench.
In the final five minutes, the referee adjudged Encarnação had been brought down only a yard outside the box, awarding the Portuguese side with a free-kick in a dangerous position, which it proved to be as her effort came back off the post before the rebounded strike by Hernandez Gray trailed wide.
With the tie level after 90 minutes, we would go to extra time. The hosts had the first opportunities, but Ashley Barron and Gray's respective strikes were comfortably held by goalkeeper Gibson.
Encarnação gave Sporting the lead in the 99th minute with a glancing header from a couple yards out, connecting with a ball sent in by Beatriz Fonseca.
They would get another inside the first minute of the second half of extra time through Carla Armengol, confirming their progression to the quarter-finals.
