Fiona Brown returns to Glasgow City

Glasgow City are thrilled to announce the return of Fiona Brown on a pre-contract agreement to join the club in January.

The Scotland International returns to Petershill Park after leaving in the winter of 2016 having made 61 appearances for the club.

During her first spell, Brown won three Scottish Women Premier League titles along with two Scottish Cups and two SWPL cups.

Brown signs a two-and-a-half year deal until the summer of 2026.

On ‘coming home’, Brown said:

“When I left, I said I’d be back. I think I’ve been Glasgow City’s biggest fan for the last seven years but I’m excited to get back on the pitch with the girls.

“This club is special and although things feel so familiar, so much has changed for the better in the time that I’ve been away. With all the change, the clubs values have remained the same and align perfectly with mine. I know what it means to be City and I hope to help the team build on their continued success!

“My time in Sweden has been incredible and I’ve learned from some of the best players in the world, so I hope I can use that to help the team and win trophies like Glasgow City always have!

“See you in the New Year!”

Brown scored 27 goals during her three years at City including an important away goal against FC Zurich when City reached the Quarter Finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2014/15.

Brown has 56 caps for Scotland and played all three games at UEFA Euro 2017 and played in two of the three group stage games at the 2019 FIFA World Cup.

Since leaving for Sweden, Brown has played for Eskilstuna United before joining FC Rosengard where she has won three Damallsvenskan titles and two Swedish Cups.

Along with her five major honours with City, Brown was part of the side that reached the Quarter Finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2021 and has reached the Group Stage of the competition twice with Rosengard.

Head Coach Leanne Ross on the signing:

“We are delighted to welcome Fiona back home to Glasgow City.

“During her first spell at the club, Fiona quickly became a fan’s favourite due to her direct and energetic attacking style of play and ability to create and score goals.

“Having spent the last seven years playing in the Swedish Damallsvenskan and Champions League with Eskilstuna United and FC Rosengard, Fiona returns to City still as a top talent but also with a wealth of experience having played at the highest level, something which will be invaluable to us for the remainder of the season.

“With the ability to play as a winger, wing back or full back on either side, Fiona’s versatility will certainly strengthen the quality of our squad. I am delighted to be able to sign a player of Fiona’s calibre on a pre contract agreement and look forward to her joining up with the squad in January.”
