Glasgow City 2-2 Celtic - SWPL Match Summary

We remain top of the Scottish Women's Premier League table following a barnstorming 2-2 draw against Celtic at a packed out Petershill Park.

It was all-action from the very first minute as the visitors took the lead inside a minute with Amy Gallacher sweeping home from the edge of the area.

City responded well to the early setback though as we bagan to make our way back into the game and after Natalia Wróbel saw a pair of snap efforts go over the bar the pressure began to pay off.

Amy Muir, recently recalled to the national team, picked the ball up on the edge of the area, before driving a low effort through a sea of bodies and into the bottom corner of Kelsey Daughtery's net to level the scores with 24 minutes played.

The orange waves kept coming and five minutes later we took the lead as Nicole Kozlova picked the ball up on the edge of the area to curl it into the top corner.

We would continue to dominate the possession as we played the better football, and Brenna Lovera nearly extended our lead from close range, but a piece of quality from Maria McAneny pulled the visitors level.

The Scotland youth international getting the better of Aleigh Gambone on the edge of the area to loop an effort past Lee Gibson.

Celtic then took their turn to build pressure and it was only a superb double save from Lee Gibson that kept the scores level as she first got down sharply to deny Luana and then was quick on her feet to push a Natalie Ross effort over the bar.

Celtic substitute Abi Harrison would see a header go wide but it would be City that would end the game the strongest but the pressure was unable to produce a winning goal as both sides ended the game with a draw a fair result in front of a near four figure crowd.

Next up, our run of home games at Petershill Park continues as we host Motherwell in the final game before the split.
