Glasgow City returned from the international break with victory as the Class of 2024 put on a show for the trailblazing Class of 1998 thanks to a 3-0 victory over local rivals Partick Thistle at Petershill Park.
There was a first a start of the season for Claire Walsh while there was also a return to the starting line up for Lee Gibson and Lisa Forrest as Leanne Ross' side looked to continue their good form.
City would control the game from the outset and take the lead with sixteen minutes on the clock as Emily Whelan and Brenna Lovera would combine once again at the end of a front to back team move; the Irish forward's run and subsequent cross smashed home by the American striker from close range.
The home attack's would continue as a Whelan header would be denied by Jeni Currie with the score line remaining at 1-0 going into the interval.
The relentless pressure would get its reward as with 54 minutes gone the always busy Aleigh Gambone would be brought down inside the area. After a short delay Lovera stepped up and coolly slotted the ball home for her fourth goal in two games as City moved through the gears.
With 81 minutes on the clock the introduction of Megan Foley would see the defender enter the pitch to applause as she made her 200th appearance for the club but it would be another substitute that would round out the scoring with seconds remaining.
Wilma Forsblom finding the bottom corner after neat work from fellow replacements Katie Lockwood, Nicole Kozlova and Hayley Lauder released the Finnish midfielder to score a third as Glasgow City ended the day how it started, at the top of the Scottish Women's Premier League table.
Next up is a trip to New Douglas Park to face Celtic in the Quarter-Finals of the Sky Sports Cup.
