We bounced back from last week's disappointing defeat in Edinburgh by booking our spot in the Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup Quarter-Finals.
A Brenna Lovera double and a header from Samantha van Diemen securing a 3-2 victory over Celtic in a barnstorming cup encounter at Petershill Park.
City made one change from last week's side with Claire Walsh returning to the starting line up in place of Nicole Kozlova with Leanne Ross tweaking her side's set up as the hunt for a first Scottish Cup since 2019 continued.
It would be an end-to-end start with Lee Gibson making two important saves with her feet to keep the scores level in the early stages. The visitors would however take the lead with 19 minutes gone as Lucy Ashworth-Clifford showed good vision to loop home from range.
City's response was nearly immediate though. Emily Whelan, who recently signed a contract extension with the club, burst into the area only to be brought down by a Celtic leg. Lovera stepping up to coolly slot the ball into the corner.
The tide would soon turn in the visitors favour again though as, moments after Kimberley Smit had a goal ruled out for an apparent hand ball, a dangerous cross into the City six yard area was turned into her own net by Claire Walsh.
Chloe Warrington and Nicole Kozlova came on at the interval as we went in search of an equaliser. One that would come just four minutes into the second half as Samantha van Diemen got on the end of a Hayley Lauder corner to head home.
And in the 56th minute the game turned on it's head completely as Lovera showed composure to turn home her second of the game after powerful set-up play from Kozlova on the wing.
City nearly had a fourth with twenty minutes left to play as the game ebbed and flowed in both directions, but Maria McAneny was on the Celtic goal line to hack it clear.
City would manage the game in the closing stages to secure a spot in Monday's Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup Quarter Final draw.
Before that though we return to league action as we welcome Montrose to Petershill Park next Sunday.
Tickets for that game can be bought here. We'd love to see you there.
