Glasgow City 6-0 Spartans - Match Summary

Glasgow City headed into the international break top of the Scottish Women's Premier League courtesy of a comfortable 6-0 victory over Spartans at a windy Petershill Park.

Lee Gibson, Aleigh Gambone and Lisa Evans all returned to the starting line up as Leanne Ross and her side looked to continue their impressive league form.

City got off to the perfect start with seven minutes on the clock as Katie Lockwood made it two goals in two games by turning home a Lisa Forrest cross ball and the lead was doubled five minutes later with Scotland U19 international Forrest the provider once again; this time finding midfielder Natalia Wróbel to turn home neatly.

City dominated against a hard-working Spartans and, after Alicia Yates got down well to save a Forrest penalty, would score a third with 50 minutes played courtesy of a lovely first time finish from Nicole Kozlova before Forrest would get on the scoresheet, poking home from close range after chasing in a loose ball.

Having scored the opener Lockwood would turn provider, laying off Aleigh Gambone for the American midfielder to come forward and shoot powerfully home for a fifth of the day.

Both sides would make a number of changes, including a return to action for Amy Muir after injury, and it would be two substitutes that would provide a familiar combination to get City's sixth and final goal. Emily Whelan showing pace on the left hand flank before delivering a ball towards Brenna Lovera; the American finishing emphatically to put a full stop on an impressive performance from the league leaders.
