Glasgow City Deliver Eat to Compete Nutrition Day with Quality Meat Scotland

Last week over forty young players from the Glasgow City Academy were treated to a special free to attend 'Eat to Compete' event delivered in partnership with Quality Meat Scotland.

The event focused on teaching girls the importance of proper nutrition in both performance and recovery.

Along with involvement in active games, it also included a live cooking demonstration where first team players Abi Harrison, Lisa Evans, Nicole Kozlova and Sofa Määttä helped the kids making their own burgers before the whole squad joined the attendees on pitch for a group photo.

Tracy Martin, Reputation Manager at Quality Meat Scotland said, ''It was fantastic to see the Eat to Complete resources in action with Glasgow City FC. Young players learned how good nutrition supports performance and recovery, and it was brilliant to see them engaging with the food and cooking alongside their heroes from the first team.

Days like this bring guidance to life and inspire young athletes to make healthy choices that both benefit their health and well-being.''

The Eat to Compete programme offers young athletes:

  • Practical nutrition guidance for performance and recovery.
  • Simple recipes using Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected Pork
  • Insight into farming, sustainability and careers in agriculture

Academy Manager, and former Scotland international, Sarah Crilly, who also heads up programmes for the Glasgow City Foundation was delighted to be able to provide support to the next generation.

''It was fantastic to be given this opportunity from Quality Meat Scotland for so many girls to, not only spend an afternoon on the pitch playing the game we all love, but also be educated on the importance of proper nutrition as aspiring athletes.
