Glasgow City returned to winning ways with a convincing display as they put six past Hamilton Academical.
Leanne Ross made five changes from the side beaten on penalties by Hibernian in the Scottish Cup on Sunday, including a first start for American midfielder Carlee Giammona.
The match began with plenty City pressure on the Hamilton defence and worked goalkeeper Chloe Nicholson in the Hamilton net in the opening period of the game as City peppered crosses into the box.
Two Hamilton players found themselves in the book early on with Jose Giard and Lauren Kerr penalised for dragging their opposition players to the ground before he first goal of the game comes the way of Glasgow City as a result of a Lauren Davidson cross being met by head of Emily Whelan at the back post to put the home side in front.
The game continued the same into the closing minutes of the half, with an effort from Giammona 20 yards out only being denied by the post. Lisa Forrest doubled the City lead in the opening minutes of the second half before the goal was chopped off.
Minutes later the lead was doubled for City though as a cut back cross from Whelan was met by Aleigh Gambone to slot low in the bottom left corner. Following a substitution at the kick off, a lapse in concentration from the Accies defence allowed Lisa Forrest to create a chance for the arriving Whelan for her second and Glasgow City’s third of the game.
City were cruising in the second half as another shot found its way to the back of the net, this time courtesy of Lauren Davidson for the fourth of the match. A first Glasgow City goal for Finnish midfielder Wilma Forsblom off the bench saw City their fifth of the night.
Cori Sullivan capped off a great team performance from when she found the top left hand corner from a free on the edge of the box in the dying minutes of the game as the whistles sounded for full time.
