Glasgow City Make Class of 1998 First Life Members

In recognition of their commitment to women's football in Scotland Glasgow City are happy to announce that the trailblazing squad of 1998 - who formed the side that competed in our first season as a club - have been inducted as our first life members.

The side were welcomed by co-founder's Carol-Anne Stewart and Laura Montgomery for Sunday's Scottish Women's Premier League fixture as the Class of 2024 continued their fine start to the season with a 3-0 victory over Partick Thistle.

The move to make the squad the club's first life members ensures that our doors will always be open to those who helped laid down its foundations and it was a pleasure to reunite with names and faces who we would not exist without.

CEO Laura Montgomery was delighted to welcome her former team-mates home, ''Without these players who shared our belief in what women's football could be, the team of today, and all the success the club has had and I hope will continue to have, would not have been possible.

''It has been an honour to welcome them all, share memories and to also take a moment to remember those who may not have been able to attend. This life time membership is a small gesture in recognition of the huge contribution they have made to our club.

''I am delighted that Leanne and her team put on a performance worthy of the day and both they, and the trailblazing Class of '98, continue to be an inspiration to us all.''

Tina Cameron, one of The Original Trailblazers shared the following message, ''We may have been The Original Trailblazers, but we are just one part of the Glasgow City story; a story that continues to inspire and empower every player who steps onto the pitch.

''Seeing the 2024 team perform was enlightening and filled us all with immense pride. There isn’t another team quite like Glasgow City, and much of that is thanks to the unwavering vision and hard work of Cas and Laura.''

At Glasgow City we look forward to continuing to celebrate all who those have helped shape who we are and the role models that exist within the club that continues to push boundaries today.
