Glasgow City are delighted to announce the arrival of Scottish centre back Kenzie Weir as the first signing of the summer for the champions.
Signed on loan from Women’s Super League side Everton, Weir spent the second half of last season on loan at Lewes having made her debut for the Toffees in 2022 in an FA Cup tie against Huddersfield Town.
Weir, a Scotland youth international at Under 19 level is Leanne Ross’s first signing of the summer. She follows her dad, David, to play in Scotland and in the same position.
Kenzie Weir said on joining Glasgow City:
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to sign for Glasgow City. I know how much of a successful club this is and I can’t wait to get started here with all the staff and players.”
Leanne Ross on her first signing of the summer:
“It is great to have secured Kenzie on a season long loan from Everton. Despite her young age, Kenzie arrives with valuable playing experience in the WSL and Championship in England, as well as at youth international level having represented Scotland at U16 and U19.
“Kenzie has a good physique and excellent defensive attributes which will strengthen our backline and bring competition for the centre back positions. Her technical ability and composure in possession are also an excellent fit with our style of play.
“Kenzie is a player with huge potential and I am glad she has chosen to join us at Glasgow City to continue her development.”
