A trio of Glasgow City players have been nominated ahead of the 2025 Scottish Women's Football Awards taking place this weekend at Scotland's national stadium, Hampden.
Goalkeeper Lee Gibson is nominated for International Player of the Year alongside Chelsea's Erin Cuthbert, Real Madrid's Caroline Weir and Liverpool's Kirsty Maclean during a year where she cemented her position as the national team's number one.
Following an impressive second half of the season on loan at Montrose, forward Sophia Martin is nominated for the sportscotland Youth Player of the Year while fellow striker Cara Gray, currently on loan at Kilmarnock, is nominated for the MG ALBA SWPL2 Player of the Year Award following a prolific 2024/25 campaign with the Ayrshire side.
City's influence at the event continues with the Kat Lindner Award for Outstanding Athletic and Academic Achievement once again being contested, named after Kat who died suddenly in 2019, the award honours a player and person who has excelled both on and off the field.
The shortlist in this category includes Rangers keeper and front-line firefighter Megan Cunningham, Hearts twins Erin and Jess Husband for achieving straight As in their Highers while juggling full-time football, new solicitor Kirsty McLeod who plays for Dunipace in Barclays Scottish Women’s League One and Armadale Thistle captain Megan Williamson, who attained a first class Biological Sciences degree while guiding her side to promotion to the Barclays Championship.
