Celtic v Glasgow City - SWPL Preview

Celtic v Glasgow City - SWPL Preview

It will have been 12 days since our last SWPL encounter when Glasgow City return to SWPL action on Friday night with a short visit to New Douglas Park to face Celtic.

This will be the fifth meeting of the sides this term, having faced Elena Sadiku's charges in both domestic cup competitions and twice in the league thus far, and one where the Original Trailblazers will be looking to claim the upper hand.

Last time out

Our first match of the split started with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Hibernian at home. There was little to split the two sides in a scrappy contest, but it was an injury-time winner from Kirsty Morrison which secured the visitors the win.

Previous meeting

City last met Celtic under the lights at Petershill Park in mid-February. An entertaining 2-2 draw played out in front of 983 fans, a record domestic crowd at the Peasy.

It was Celtic who struck first with Amy Gallacher scoring in the first minute, before Amy Muir equalised in the 24th minute and a stunner from Nicole Kozlova put City ahead by the half-hour mark.

But, the points would be shared following Maria McAneny's levelling goal, a curling strike, in the 52nd minute.
