Glasgow City v Motherwell - SWPL Preview

Glasgow City v Motherwell - SWPL Preview

Glasgow City are back in domestic action this weekend following the international break. We host Motherwell on Sunday afternoon at Petershill Park, marking the beginning of the penultimate month of the season and the start of a busy period which sees Leanne Ross and her side play five times across two competitions in the space of 17 days.

Last time out

When we step out onto the pitch at Petershill Park on Sunday afternoon, it will have been more than two weeks since our last outing in the SWPL.

Under the lights at New Douglas Park, City claimed a hard-fought 2-1 win against reigning league champions Celtic.

We took the lead through an impressive strike from Brenna Lovera midway through the first half, before Saoirse Noonan netted the equaliser just before the hour mark.

But, City showed great character and determination to keep fighting in their bid to claim all three points. We reaped our reward in the dying minutes when Kimberley Smit prodded the ball home in the 86th minute.

Previous meeting

Our last meeting with Motherwell was our final match before the league split back in March. We prevailed with a 4-0 win at the Peasy with Lovera opening the scoring in the first half, before Lisa Forrest and Natalia Wrobel (2) netted in the second period.
