Glasgow City welcome Aleigh Gambone

Glasgow City are delighted to announce the signing of American Aleigh Gambone who joins the club from Danish side Fortuna Hjorring.

The 23 year old midfielder becomes Head Coach Leanne Ross 3rd signing ahead of next season’s campaign.

The combative box to box midfielder spent four years at top ranked North Carolina Tar Heels, before graduating at the end of last year and joining Fortuna on a short term deal.

With her college side, Gambone helped the team to tie for first place in the 2022 NCAA Division 1 and reach the final of the Atlantic Coast Conference College Cup.

Putting pen to paper on a two year deal, Gambone said:

“I can’t wait to put on the storied orange jersey and play in front of our amazing fans. This club has a long relationship with the Champions League and a historic legacy in Scotland which first attracted me to the club.

“I am excited to become part of the team and embrace the great Glasgow culture!”

Head Coach Leanne Ross on her newest signing:

“I am delighted to welcome Aleigh Gambone to Glasgow City after her time at Fortuna Hjorring in Denmark.

“Aleigh is a combative, box to box central midfield player with different attributes which will complement our already strong, talented midfield. As someone who likes to get forward to create and support the attack, Aleigh will enhance our threat going forward, while her reading of the game and work rate will make her a great asset in transition and defensive situations.

“It is great to have Aleigh on board and I look forward to seeing what she can contribute to our team on and off the pitch.”
