Hearts 0-0 Glasgow City - SWPL Match Summary

Hearts 0-0 Glasgow City - SWPL Match Summary

Glasgow City were left frustrated as the points were shared on a bitterly cold evening as neither side were able to find the breakthrough during a goalless Scottish Women's Premier League clash with Hearts at Oriam.

After a fast start from City the hosts were forced into an early change when goalkeeper Charlotte Parker-Smith was replaced by Rachael Johnstone and it would be Emily Whelan who would have the first chance of the game but her effort from the edge of the area went over the crossbar.

Both sides battled for possession as the half continued with the visitors generating the better of the chances as Natalia Wróbel's effort from the angle was tipped over the crossbar by Johnstone, before the keeper saved solidly from Amy Anderson.

Katie Lockwood replaced Lisa Forrest at the interval with City looking to build pressure as the game swung in both directions with Lee Gibson sharp to deny Bayley Hutchison.

The introduction of Aleigh Gambone saw City turn the screw as the next chance fell to Nicole Kozlova but the Ukrainian striker was unable to turn home from close range after good work by Brenna Lovera.

Minutes later Kozlova would have the ball in the net but the referee ruled there was a handball in the build up and chalked it off, while Wróbel saw another effort clip the crossbar.

With the score still 0-0 the hosts were given an opportunity to take the lead but Gibson did superbly to deny Georgia Timms after the Hearts striker had raced through on goal.

City would dominate the closing stages but were unable to find the winning moment as the points were shared.

Next up is the visit of Rangers to Petershill Park this Sunday, tickets for which can be bought here now.
