Glasgow City had six players away on international duty this week. Here is a round-up of how they got on.
SCOTLAND
Lee Gibson played in both Scotland’s narrow friendly defeat to Netherlands and the FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifier against Faroe Islands. Gibson kept a clean sheet in Torshavn while Lauren Davidson appeared as a substitute in the 80th minute. Jenna Clark was also in the squad.
Scotland find out their opponents in the FIFA Women’s World Cup UEFA Playoffs on Friday.
POLAND
Poland ended their UEFA Women’s World Cup Qualifying campaign with two victories over Albania and Kosovo. Kinga Kozak appeared as a substitute in both matches and scored Poland’s 7th goal in their home victory over Kosovo. Sadly those results weren’t enough to pip Belgium to a play off place.
NEW ZEALAND
Meikayla Moore played a full 90 minutes in both of New Zealand’s friendly victories over Mexico and the Philippines. A 1-0 win over Mexico was followed up by a 2-1 victory over Philippines with Moore opening the scoring from the penalty spot in Los Angeles.
COSTA RICA
Priscila Chinchilla came off the bench in both of Costa Rica’s friendly matches against Colombia this International break. The South American side won both matches with a 1-0 victory on Saturday followed up by a 2-0 victory yesterday. Chinchilla and her Costa Rica team-mates reached the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Finals over the summer and the two matches against the Copa America runners-up have been good warm ups for next summer.
