Internationals: How Did Glasgow City Players Fare?

Internationals: How Did Glasgow City Players Fare?

A number of our Glasgow City players have been away on international duty, with some in UEFA Nations League action, some in European Championship qualifying and others in friendlies.

Six of our squad were representing Scotland across the U19s, U23s and the senior squad.

Goalkeeper Lee Gibson and defender Amy Muir were involved in Scotland's Nations League double-header with Germany, with the former starting both matches - which ended in respective 4-0 and 6-1 defeats - and the latter started and played 65 minutes in Tuesday night's encounter.

The U23s were in action in Pinatar, Spain where they were beaten 3-1 by Denmark and beat Portugal on penalties.

Chloe Warrington took her place in the XI in both matches, whilst goalkeeper Erin Clachers, who is spending the season on loan at Hibernian, started against Portugal and saved a spotkick in the penalty shootout, which Scotland won 5-4 after a 0-0 draw in normal time.

It was round two European Championship qualifying for Scotland's U19s, facing Czechia, Spain and Switzerland.

Goalkeeper Ava Easdon and Lisa Forrest started all three matches, beating Czechia 4-0, before back-to-back 4-0 defeats in the other two contests.

Also in Nations League action was Nicole Kozlova, who started in both matches in Ukraine's double-header against Czechia. Our forward played 88 minutes and bagged an assist in her side's 1-0 win on Friday, before playing 85 minutes in the 1-1 draw yesterday evening.

Linda Motlhalo was representing South Africa for the first time since her return to Glasgow City, starting in back-to-back home matches in friendlies against Malawi.

The winger netted from the penalty spot, scoring her side's second in Saturday's 3-0 win and helped Banyana Banyana come from 1-0 down to defeat the same opponents 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

Our internationals will be back in domestic action on Sunday afternoon when we face Motherwell at Petershill Park in the SWPL. Get your ticket here
