Glasgow City are delighted to confirm the appointment of Keiron McAneny as the club’s new Head of Player Development.
Keiron has been with the club for the last five years taking on a number of coaching roles including as Head Coach of the U18 and U19 sides. More recently he has been involved at first team level both as Coach and Assistant Manager.
In his new role Keiron will continue to work as part of Leanne Ross’ first team coaching staff while overseeing the player pathway from the U13 age group upwards as the club continues to strengthen the foundations of its academy structure.
Keiron who has already started in his new role had the following to say:
‘I’m delighted to be given this opportunity to help support the next generation of Glasgow City players. Strengthening that connection between the Academy and the First Team is an important part of this new role as we continue to develop and evolve as a club.’
‘While providing first team players on the pitch will be the ultimate goal it is also crucial that we support them in becoming the best versions of themselves as people too; ensuring that each player is as prepared as possible when the right opportunity, at the right time comes along.’
Leanne Ross, Glasgow City Head Coach on the impact Keiron’s new role will have on the first team:
‘Keiron’s new role is going to be huge for us going forward. Every Academy player’s aspiration will be to play for the first team and having Keiron as Head of Player Development means we can get a greater understanding of how to support players a lot earlier in their journey.’
‘He’s working really hard on implementing our game model across the Academy so everyone knows how Glasgow City plays which will then help them when the opportunity comes for them to make that transition to first team level.’
