Lana Golob makes the move to Glasgow City!

Glasgow City are thrilled to confirm the signing of Slovenian international Lana Golob, with the defender penning a two-year deal with the club.

The 25-year-old defender makes the move to Scotland from Italy, where she spent the 2024/25 season with Serie B side Bologna.

After arriving in Glasgow, Golob said: “I'm very excited to start this new chapter. The club's history and how they promote the women's game - I'm just really excited to get started."

Head coach Leanne Ross added: “We are really pleased to welcome Lana to Glasgow City. She is a strong and composed defender who will have a real presence in our backline.

"Lana has experience in different leagues across Europe and has represented her country at senior international level, so brings both quality and a calmness to our defence. She’ll be a great fit for the team and our style of play."

Golob comes to Glasgow with an array of experience playing in the United States, across Europe and at international level with Slovenia, having made her senior debut for her country in 2018 going on to earn 46 caps so far.

After spending four seasons at Virginia University in the USA – where she made 58 starts across 60 appearances, Golob embarked on a professional career which saw her play across the continent.

Her former clubs include ŽNK Škale, ŽNK Radomlje, and ŽNK Mura in her native Slovenia; Bologna, Napoli and Pomigliano in Italy; Basel in Switzerland, and OH Leuven in Belgium.

On the international stage, Golob is a regular call-up to the Slovenian national team, with 46 caps and four goals to her name, and recently helped her country gain promotion to League A following a successful UEFA Nations League campaign.

Everyone at Glasgow City is delighted Lana has decided to join the club, and we look forward to watching her thrive in her new home.

Your first chance to watch Lana in action will be at this Sunday's pre-season friendly against Hamilton Accies. Use you 2025/26 season ticket - which can be bought on Fanbase - for entry to Petershill Park!
