Leanne Ross is looking forward to the challenge that awaits in the Second Qualifying Round of the UEFA Women's Europa Cup after Friday's draw paired us with Danish league leaders HB Køge with a place in the Last 16 of UEFA's new competition at stake.
''They're going to be good opponents.'' shared our Head Coach.
''They finished third in the league last year but they are at the top of the league at the moment, so we know they've started their season really well. The calibre of players they have means they will be a real threat to us, but we’ve started the season well too so it’s going to be a good contest."
Following the draw, it was announced the first leg will take place on Wednesday 8th October at the Køge Stadion with details for the home leg at The Peasy still being finalised, but Leanne is keen to take things one game at a time.
''It's just about taking the game in isolation. That means that we need to be defensively solid, something that we've done really well both in the start of our season domestically and in Europe, giving ourselves a base to then go and play.''
''We need to make sure that we go to Denmark and give a good account of ourselves, something I know this group has the ability to do, making sure we've got something to fight for when we come back and play the second leg in front of what I’m sure will be a buzzing home crowd.''
