"We need to go and win a game of football, it's as simple as that."
That's the message from Head Coach Leanne Ross as we head into the second leg of our Round of 16 Europa Cup tie against Portuguese side Sporting CP, with the scores tied at 1-1 following a tightly-fought first leg at Petershill Park.
It's something Leanne, who has experienced her own fair share of memorable European nights during her time as a player and now as a coach, believes this squad can go on and now do as they continue to write their own history.
''We can still go in and be respectful to the team that Sporting are, and the individuals they have in their team, but I've seen enough from my team on Wednesday night, and with the professional way in which we defeated Montrose on Sunday, that we can go and give it a right good go," she said.
Natalia Wróbel netted the opener midway through the first half of the home tie, but it would be honours even after Telma Encarnação levelled the game in the 75th minute, but it was another fighting performance from the squad.
Togetherness has been a recurring theme during The Original Trailblazers fine start to the season and that bond has been only strengthened by a healthy competitive spirit within the squad.
"The standards we hold ourselves to are coming from the players themselves and we're pushing each other all the way," Leanne added.
''As a group we're enjoying the football we are playing at the moment and the challenges that we are giving each other can be something that we all feed off going into the game."
Wednesday night's game kicks off at 7:45pm (UK time) and will be live on the BBC iPlayer. We are also excited that City supporters will have the opportunity to come together in support of the side for a watch party at Nonna Said in the Merchant City, hosted by our friends at The Sideline Podcast.
