South Africa International Linda Motlhalo returns to Glasgow City

We are thrilled to announce the return of South African international Linda Motlhalo.

The midfielder, who left the club in in January 2024 to sign for NWSL side Racing Louisville has signed on with The Original Trailblazers until the summer of 2026.

The 26-year-old made 34 appearances and scored four goals for City having originally arrived at Petershill Park from Swedish Damallsvenskan side Djurgårdens IF during the 2022/23 winter transfer window.

Her impact was immediate and the Banyana Banyana midfielder became synonymous with one of our most iconic moments. A key player in the move that led to Lauren Davidson's injury time title winner at Ibrox on the final day of that same season.

Capped 83 times by her country, Linda, who will wear the Number 20 jersey, joined up with Leanne and the rest of the squad this week.

Sharing her excitement about returning to Glasgow, Linda had the following to say.

''I'm so happy to be back, this place brings back a lot of great memories.

Glasgow will always be like a second home. When I first left Leanne and all the staff said if you ever want to come back this will always be home. I didn't even think twice when they called to say I could come back. When that happened I told my agent that's where I'm going.

I've come at a time when it's really hectic and I've just come in from off season so it's going to be demanding for me to catch up but I've been watching the games and I like the direction of where the team is going.''

As Linda has prepared for her return to Petershill Park a familiar face, and fellow Glasgow City SWPL title winner, has been helping her stay sharp back home in South Africa.

''I've been training with Janine (van Wyk) at the JVW Academy. She's been really helping me stay in shape. From the start of my relationship with Glasgow City she has always been there for me and even now I really appreciate her.''

On her message for supporters now she has returned.

''Man, the supporters! I don't even know how to describe them. They really are supportive, they are like a family and even after I was gone I was still getting messages.

They mean a lot to me and I really appreciate them.''

Head Coach Leanne Ross was pleased to add more quality to her squad ahead of the end of season run in.

''Linda is someone I know well from her time with the club previously and I'm excited to see what she will bring into the squad.

When the opportunity to bring her back to Glasgow City came along it was an easy decision to make.

A player with undoubted quality, Linda will bring an experience on the pitch and a personality off it which can only help us as we continue to work hard to achieve our goals for success this season.''
