We are delighted to announce the arrival of defender Lydia Sallaway, who will spend the rest of the season with us on loan from Women’s Super League side Aston Villa.
The 18-year-old, England youth international, who signed her first professional contract with Villa in the summer, made her debut for the Birmingham club in December 2023 against Durham, before making her first appearance in the WSL against Manchester United last year.
After joining City, the England youth international said: “I'm buzzing. I'm just really excited to be here and to be playing with this team.
"They have all been really nice and welcoming. I just can't wait to get on the pitch."
City Head Coach Leanne Ross added: “We are pleased to bring Lydia to the club for the rest of the season.
“She is a talented young prospect who has come through Aston Villa’s WSL Academy and has already gained senior experience in England.
“Her arrival bolsters the backline ahead of what is going to be a demanding and busy rest of the campaign, and we all look forward to seeing what she brings to the squad during her time with us.”
