Match Summary: Glasgow City 2-0 Aberdeen

Match Summary: Glasgow City 2-0 Aberdeen

City signed off our open door pre-season friendlies with a 2-0 win over fellow Scottish Women's Premier League side Aberdeen in a competitive contest at Petershill Park.

Goals from Natalia Wróbel and Nicole Kozlova in either half saw us claim the victory, with it being another valuable outing ahead of the new season.

We took the lead inside the opening ten minutes when a well-worked team move resulted in Wróbel being played through and burying the ball into the back of the net.

Only minutes later we went close to a second when Kimberley Smit hit a free-kick goal wards, but it was well saved by Aberdeen goalkeeper Anna Prawer, who got down quickly at her far post.

There was an opportunity for Abi Harrison halfway through the first half when we latched on to a loose ball which found its way to our No.9, however, her lofted effort was just too high and landed off target.

Aberdeen had a chance of their own through a long-range effort from Darcie Miller, and it proved to be a competitive first half with Wróbel's strike being the difference going into the break.

There were two changes made at the break, with Muir and McLaughlin entering the fray and the former taking on the armband, as Smit and Lauder took their places on the bench.

It continued to be a fairly even match, but our second goal did arrive and it came from Kozlova who had entered the field only minutes before alongside goalkeeper Ava Easdon and Emily Whelan.

The forward slotted the ball into the back of the Aberdeen net, getting the better of defender Jessica Broadrick, to make it 2-0 just after the hour mark.
