Match Summary Glasgow City 6-0 Rangers

Match Summary Glasgow City 6-0 Rangers

Under the sunshine at Petershill Park, we faced Rangers in our final Scottish Power Women's Premier League match of the season - and it proved to be a memorable finale as we secured a 6-0 victory to round off the season on a high.

Match Action

We quickly settled into our rhythm, taking control of possession from the start.

An early delivery from Lisa Evans flashed dangerously across the box, just evading any finishing touch. Moments later, Emily Whelan capitalised on an interception to create a promising opening, though Rangers' defence were quick to clear the danger.

City's early dominance paid off in the 10th minute as Lana Golob marked her return from injury in perfect fashion, heading home from a pinpoint Lisa Evans' corner.

Rangers looked to respond and pushed higher up the pitch, but were repeatedly denied by a solid City defence. We continued to threaten from set-pieces, winning a series of corners and remained on the front foot, pressing for a second goal, and it arrived soon after.

Lisa Evans delivered a precise pass into Hayley Lauder, who made no mistake with a composed left-footed volley to double the lead and to maintain her record of scoring in every season since she joined the club in 2014.

City struck again less than five minutes later with a goal reminiscent of our Sky Sports Cup Final success. From a corner, Hayley Lauder's delivery was met by Lisa Forrest who powered a header into the net to make it three before the break.

Both teams emerged from half-time with intent, Lisa Forrest went close early in the second half, her effort drifting off target, before Rangers responded with a chance comfortably gathered by Erin Clachers. City maintained their high press, continuing to apply pressure in search of further goals.

Our fourth goal arrived in the 52nd minute from another set-piece. Positioned on the edge of the area, Lisa Forrest contorted superbly, bending the ball into the top corner to extend City's advantage.

Rangers continued to search for a way in but Clachers and the City defence easily controlled the pressure.

At the other end, City remained dangerous. Lisa Evans drove forward and delivered another inviting cross into a crowded box, while Natalia Wrobel tested Fife with a powerful strike.

City added two more in quick succession. Emily Whelan showed great composure to slide the ball into the bottom corner to claim her first league goal of the season, before Lisa Forrest followed almost immediately with a composed finish to seal her hat-trick and make it 6-0 with 20 minutes remaining.

It was a dominant and clinical performance from City, as we showcased attacking quality, defensive organisation and control from start to finish, ensuring we ended our final match on a high.
